Hoisting grips are used to distribute the force introduced into a cable when hoisted, using a winch, when cable size or length leads to an overall weight that cannot be operated manually. They consist of a wire mesh and hold the cable size, the closed version - used when the top connector is installed after the cable is hoisted - and the open version (Lace Up Type) - used where the top connector is installed prior to hoisting the cable. Also, the closed version might be used, if it is left on the cable replacing the top cable clamp.
